Responsible Gaming

GTECH is committed to promoting responsible gaming to our employees, our customers and the public.

"Problem gambling is gambling behavior which causes disruptions in any major area of life: psychological, physical, social or vocational. The term 'Problem Gambling' includes, but is not limited to, the condition known as 'Pathological', or 'Compulsive' Gambling, a progressive addiction characterized by increasing preoccupation with gambling, a need to bet more money more frequently, restlessness or irritability when attempting to stop, 'chasing' losses, and loss of control manifested by continuation of the gambling behavior in spite of mounting, serious, negative consequences." GTECH recognizes that problem gaming is an issue that cannot be ignored.  As a manufacturer and provider of games and equipment for entertainment purposes, GTECH believes in taking a pro-active approach to problem and underage gaming. GTECH actively supports agencies and programs committed to researching, preventing, and treating problem gaming.

Developing and offering gaming technology that helps ensure responsible gaming has always been a mandatory element of GTECH's offerings, given the significantly divergent legislative and regulatory environments that exist in the more than 80 jurisdictions the Company serves around the world.  Along with conducting research into this area, GTECH supports jurisdictions in establishing funding mechanisms for responsible play.  Some examples include setting aside funding for problem-gaming treatment programs; establishing gambling hotlines; and printing these hotline telephone numbers on lottery tickets, terminals, and video gaming devices.
