GTECH INTRODUCES NEW “SINGLE INSTANT-TICKET DELIVERY SYSTEM” AT WORLD LOTTERY ASSOCIATION
PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND (U.S.) and BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA – October 29, 2010 – GTECH Corporation will introduce its newest innovation for self-service instant-ticket vending at this year’s World Lottery Association (WLA) Trade Show beginning on October 31 in Brisbane, Australia. GTECH has developed a patents-pending, single-burster ticket delivery system which uses one motorized mechanism per bin. This innovation will radically improve the reliability and availability of lottery self-service vending to the benefit of both retailers and players.
Existing instant-ticket vending machines share mechanical components across an entire row of instant ticket offerings, so a failure in one bin can impact the other bins in that row. With GTECH’s new solution, each bin is completely individual and separate. In addition, the single ticket delivery system accommodates a wider range of ticket types, uses sensors that are dust proof, and each module is completely capable of remote update.
This new innovation will be initially deployed in the Gemini Compact which is the small footprint solution within the GTECH “Gemini” family of Lottery Vending Machines. The Gemini Compact provides the market proven selling features and functionality of the full size Gemini Ultra lottery vending machine, but in one-third the footprint. The Gemini Compact contains Quick Pick buttons, instant-ticket games, and integrated Enterprise Series MultiMedia (ESMM) display capabilities. Its sleek design and condensed overall size are ideal for new corporate retail and same-store expansion, and for chain stores with limited space. Its structure is specifically designed for shops where a traditional full-sized vending machine would be too large.
“Innovations like the instant-ticket single burster will continue to move lotteries forward to provide solutions that are more readily accepted by retailers and that deliver an enhanced experience for players. The single burster is one of most significant innovations to take place in lottery self service in the last decade, and its inclusion in our latest family of self service terminals will provide material benefits to the lotteries we serve,” said GTECH Technology Fellow Donald L. Stanford. “We remain committed to research and development to offer new forms of technology that will continue to place our products at the forefront of the lottery industry.”
