PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND – February 25, 2010 – Lottomatica Group S.p.A. subsidiary, GTECH Corporation, has promoted Matthew Whalen to Senior Vice President of Global Technology Solutions, reporting to GTECH President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel.

“Matt is a seasoned lottery professional who brings over 16 years of industry expertise to our worldwide customer-facing technology organization,” said Mr. Patel. “As a result, our customers will benefit from his impressive and wide-ranging experience in technology operations, innovation, and software development. Matt’s hands-on industry knowledge makes him ideally suited to tailor the Company’s solutions to the uniqueness of the marketplace and our customers.”

As Senior Vice President of Global Technology Solutions, Whalen is responsible for all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, software development, implementations, customer acceptance, and ongoing software services for GTECH’s global customer base. Whalen and his team are also charged with delivering innovative, competitively-priced products and solutions that place the customer first, ultimately strengthening GTECH’s position as an industry leader.

Whalen joined GTECH in 1994 as a software engineer and held roles of increasing responsibility over the next 16 years. Most recently, Whalen served as Vice President of Global Technology Solutions, where his team supplied the necessary technology solutions to support crucial customer extensions both domestically and internationally.

Whalen holds a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York. He earned an Applied Associate’s Degree in Science, with a major in Computer Science, from the State University of New York at Morrisville.
