ANTICIPATED REVENUES TO GTECH OF APPROXIMATELY $20 MILLION, COMMENCING IN MID-2010
FIRST NORTH AMERICAN DEPLOYMENT OF INTELLIGEN™ ADVANCED BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE MODULE
ROME, ITALY AND PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND (U.S.), January 19, 2010 – Lottomatica Group S.p.A. announced that its subsidiary GTECH Corporation has signed a five-year, five-month contract with the Maryland State Lottery Commission to supply, operate, and support the central system that will monitor as many as 15,000 video lottery terminals (VLTs) at up to five casinos as part of the state’s new gaming program. This contract, which is expected to generate revenues to GTECH of approximately $20 million, follows a competitive procurement process, and has been approved by the Maryland State Lottery Commission, the Maryland Board of Public Works, and the Maryland Department of Information Technology.
Under the terms of the contract, GTECH will install the Company’s latest central system, INTELLIGEN™, along with its Advanced Business Intelligence Value-Added Module, and provide ongoing services to the Maryland State Lottery Commission, including operation and maintenance of the system. The system is expected to be operational by mid-2010, and the contract includes the potential for a five-year extension.
“GTECH is pleased to offer its state-of-the-art INTELLIGEN central system solution to the Maryland Lottery. This win also extends the Company’s success as the vendor of choice for states implementing new VLT programs,” said Victor Duarte, GTECH Vice President of Gaming Solutions. “As lotteries continue to introduce government-authorized video lottery programs to help generate additional revenue, the success of these programs will be predicated on having a central system that supports integrity, fair play, and a high entertainment value. GTECH is committed to working closely with the Maryland Lottery to help develop a successful VLT program – one that will generate important revenue for the State of Maryland in the years to come.”
“The Maryland Lottery chose GTECH’s INTELLIGEN solution because of its proven integrity, ease of management, and advanced reporting,” said Gina Smith, Maryland State Lottery Agency Interim Director. “These features, combined with the system’s support of open protocols, means Maryland will be able to adapt and grow its new program as advances in technology emerge. This flexibility will strengthen our program over the long term.”
Built on 20 years of proven central system experience, INTELLIGEN offers stable, secure command and control capability uniquely tailored to distributed and venue gaming environments. It interoperates with a wide range of VLTs using multiple protocols, including the Game to System® (G2S®) open standard protocol, and has advanced communication abilities.
INTELLIGEN’s optional Value-Added Modules allow operators to invest in only the enhanced features they need. The Advanced Business Intelligence Module offers granular data on demand for precise market and performance data, boosting operational efficiency.
