LOTTOTECH, WITH GTECH AS EXCLUSIVE TECHNOLOGY PROVIDER, CHOSEN TO LAUNCH NATIONAL LOTTERY IN MAURITIUS, FOLLOWING COMPETITIVE PROCUREMENT

PROVIDENCE, RI – (August 20, 2009) – GTECH Corporation announced that Lottotech Ltd., a corporation to which GTECH is the exclusive technology provider, has been selected for the implementation and operation of a national online and instant-ticket lottery in Mauritius, following a competitive procurement. Lottotech holds the license to operate the national lottery for a 10-year period through April 15, 2019. The island of Mauritius is located off the coast of the African continent.

“GTECH is pleased to join with Lottotech as its exclusive technology provider for the implementation of the Mauritius National Lottery,” said GTECH President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel. “We will deliver a world-class lottery platform and solutions specifically tailored for the Mauritian market, and look forward to assisting our clients with applying industry best practices to build a very successful lottery for the people of Mauritius and Rodrigues that will generate significant funds for the various good causes including education, health, sports, and culture.”

“Lottotech selected GTECH as its technology provider because we appreciate the value of GTECH’s leadership and success in the International lottery sector. We are happy to have access to, and be able to provide Mauritians with, a first-class lottery operation that will meet the expectations of all stakeholders in the Mauritius National Lottery project,” said Lottotech Chairman Carl Ah-Teck.

“We look forward to deriving the full benefits of state-of-the-art technology and lottery best practices from GTECH,” added Lottotech General Manager Jean-Pierre Desbiens. “GTECH’s technology and talent transfer will immensely benefit Mauritians who are a new entrant into the lottery world, making them experts in their own right.”

Under the terms of the license, GTECH will provide Lottotech with a turn-key lottery system solution, based on the Company’s Enterprise Series platform, which is easily customizable to meet the evolving needs of the Mauritian market, now and in the future. In addition, GTECH will initially install approximately 600 Altura® lottery terminals, with the retailer network potentially growing to up to 1,000 points-of-sale over time. The system is expected to go live in October of 2009, with a lotto game launching initially, followed by instant games.
