Kids' Testimonials

Since the first GTECH After School Advantage computer lab was opened in April 1999, more than 20,000 children between the ages of 5-18 have gained access to computers. What do the children like most about the computers? Here's what they have told us.

"The thing I like most about computers is the Internet. It helps me to learn. I go on the Internet and choose a website. The Internet puts a lot of things in my brain. There are little doors in my head. They open whenever I get on the computer. They get stuffed with things whenever I get on the computer."
TJ, Age 7, Boys and Girls Club of Hall County

"I like the Internet because I went there and found out how long it takes for peanuts to grow. I found out how many pumpkins can grow in a year. I love playing on the computers because it is fun and I love to learn."
Avien, Age 7, Boys and Girls Club Of Hall County

"When I go to the Boys & Girls Club I go straight to the Education & Technology room. I get started on my homework right away! I ask the staff for help, and if they don't know the answers I look it up on the computer. I know then that I will find the right answer..I love coming to the Boys & Girls Club because I play on the computers and learn new things with my friends. I love the staff, and I am very happy to be a member. I am so grateful for our computer lab!"
Deanna, Age 9, Boys and Girls Club Of Hall County

"I like the way the computer gives me information. It has helped me by teaching me how to set up a letter. The computer has lots of games for children. No bad games like fighting."
Tonisha, Age 9, Boy and Girls Club of Pawtucket

"Computers are very important to me for several reasons. First, it helps me complete my homework. Once I had to research Native American dwellings and all I needed to do is punch in Native American homes and the Chinook Tribe. It gave me so much information that I was able to build a Native American house."
Rugayyah, Age 10, Community Prep

"What I like most about the computers is when I need to type I can and I can go do research on stuff that I need to do. I can study for tests so I can make a good grade. I like to go in there to play on the computers like games on stuff that you can learn. If it wasn't for the Boys & Girls Club I would not be making the grades that I'm making."
Rashae, Age 10, Boys and Girls Club of Augusta

"Thank you GTECH for the computers. Since we received the computers, I have learned a lot. I have learned to play games like Flux. I can research my homework by using the encyclopedia program and most of all, the computers are easy to use."
Eric, Age 10, Nickerson Gardens

"I love our computers and the 'windows to the world' they give us. I've heard that 'knowledge is power' so just imagine the power we gain if only we choose to unlock the door."
Chase, Age 11, Carr Creek Elementary

"Using the computers has helped me get a great big 'A'. My mom is very proud of me. She gives me a big hug and kisses every day. My mom told me that if I keep up the good work she will have something for me."
Nigel, Age 11, King Middle School

"It is fun coming to Teens At Work and getting on the computer because of the many different games that are here..If I had to choose my favorite software on the computer it would be Carmen San Diego because it is like I'm a spy and I have to break codes so I can go to the next part of the game. It teaches me different parts of speech and how to spell different words that I don't know. It helps me because when I remember some of the new words that I learned on the game and the meaning of them. The GTECH Computer Lab is one of the highlights of my afternoon when I come to Teens At Work."
Paulette, Age 12, Teens At Work

"Having computers at The Study Hall has helped me a lot. It has helped me improve in some of my most important classes like Social Studies and Science...When I go to The Study Hall I used their computers to get my assignments done, and it is helping my grades improve. Not only have my grades improved, they have also helped my attitude improve. When I would get homework that I needed computers for, I used to get angry and discouraged. I don't have one that I can use at home. Now I can get any homework done with no problems."
Ciglamius, Age 12, King Middle School

"I was really, really excited when I heard that Dugan Best was going to have a new computer lab, but I never imagined what a huge change it would bring to the people in the community. Some adults have a chance to come in the computer lab to look up things for school and work. Sadly, some children can't afford to have computers at home, by having this computer lab, all kids are able to experience what a wonderful thing the computers bring to everyone."
Ara, Age 14, Dugan Best Community Center
